Exped deepsleep mat review8/8/2023 ![]() The cooking stove didn’t come with step by step instructions, so you may want to check that out before you end up in Yellowstone without cell service. We are not experienced campers so we appreciated that the tent came with instructions printed on the bag label. They provide a spatula and cooking spoon… I wish we had thought to pack our cooking tongs. We bought our own propane and firewood, and brought cutting board, knife, and eating utensils. All of the equipment (tent, chairs, table, cooking set, mattress pads, sleeping bags) were clean and in good condition. We got the Yellowstone package which has a tent that fits the 8x8’ footprint limit that Grant Campground sets. THANKS CHELSEA!īefore I planned our family trip to Yellowstone, I didn’t even know such a service existed! We were delighted with the service from beginning to end. We will be using this company again for our next big camping adventure and highly recommend Outdoors Geek Gear Rental. We found a UPS store / access point in a little town on our drive back to town. We had to pack the gear in the box that it came in and use the UPS label that they included. I can not neglect the fact that Outdoors Geek had the best of the best in regard for to a full size top quality air mattress and full size (think double bed size) sleeping bag so that we could snuggle together.Return was a breeze. The soft cooler was a lifesaver! We cooked minimally on this trip but still used the pots and the pan. The flashlights worked well although we did have to buy batteries for one of them. We didn't use the table or chairs, because they would have just blown away. We approached it with humor and used every single stake included! The tent held up well as we had a major windstorm that first night! The stove was easy to light with the igniter on the Eureka 2 burner stove. when we got to our camp site it was incredibly windy. The gear had to be delivered on Friday because UPS didn't deliver on the weekend and we were camping from Monday to Thursday. The gear: We were nervous. They only charged us for the nights that we camped, which was a real bonus and testament to the excellent customer service. We arranged for the gear to be shipped to our hotel, where we stayed the night that we arrived in Texas. Chelsea and my husband communicated via both phone and email to assure that we had all of the necessary camping gear for our trip to Big Bend National Park. ✓ Browse our archive of more than 5000 articles – the single biggest source of New Zealand tramping culture and literature. From start to finish we had a wonderful experience with Outdoors Geek Gear Rental. ✓ Gain access to more than 750 trips, including maps and GPX files which you can download straight to the mapping app of your choice. ✓ Available wherever you are – in print and online. ✓ Read world-class outdoor journalism – Wilderness is the most-awarded outdoor magazine in New Zealand. ✓ Save up to 25% when compared to the cover price. ✓ Receive the Wildcard membership card, offering savings on outdoor gear and services from our partners – you can easily save the cost of your subscription and more if your gear needs updating. ✓ Receive a free gift worth $25 – a copy of the pocket-sized Wild Cuisine book containing 20 backcountry recipes and an A1-sized map of Tongariro and Arthur’s Pass National Parks! ![]() ✓ Be entered in the draw to win our monthly subscriber prize draws – this month, you could win one of 5 pairs of Salewa Carbonium Alp Speed walking poles worth $270. Still wondering if you should subscribe? There are lots of reasons why you should: Verdict: The smoothest rough sleep around. But in the tramping game of compromise, I’m happy to sacrifice a little space and weight for a product that makes me smile with each use. It’s no lightweight, however, and stuffed into its sack, it’s almost as large as my inflatable mattress. It’s silent, soft and warm, and equally as comfortable as my pillow at home. To sleep on, this pillow is a game changer. Within five minutes, the wrinkles in the plush fabric are stretched smooth, and the pillow takes on a bouncy resistance like bread dough. ![]() Baggy and limp, it looks under-stuffed and uncomfortable, but, like magic, it slowly inflates as the foam expands. When first removed from its stuff sack, the pillow seems a huge disappointment. I’ve tried expensive inflatable options over the years, and I make a mean pillow out of a down jacket, but Exped’s Deepsleep has taken the cake as my new favourite sleep accessory. I can’t fall asleep in cars, on the couch, or on an uncomfortable mattress, and if my pillow isn’t comfortable, it’s all over.
